The world lost a very special person early Tuesday morning.

Actress, musician, student, daughter, and my dear friend, Sam Kane Kraft, was killed in a car accident in Los Angeles. I am still in shock from the sudden and senseless way she was taken from us.

When I met Sammi, we were young…

What I didn’t know, until I had a daughter, was how poorly we’re doing by girls in kids’ entertainment! I decided I wanted to help the creators of kids media to realize how few female characters they were putting into what’s made specifically for kids, and how stereotyped those few females characters were — especially in family films. I formed the Institute so I could have the data to back up my perception, and we now have sponsored the largest amount of research ever done on gender representations in media. We’ve chosen to focus on kids 11 and under because if boys and girls grow up seeing a big imbalance in the ratio of male to female characters from the very beginning, they will start to see this imbalance as normal. They may grow up believing that girls aren’t as important as boys.

#I was looking for scenes for GIFs #Then I watched this #couldn’t help thinking that it was like Sarah was the companion again #leaving the TARDIS to see what was waiting for her #happy and ready for a new adventure with the Doctor

MTE. I also love how much David reminds me of Four in this scene - the way he pops his head out and the look on his face just screams Tom Baker to me for some reason. Ten is very similar to Four in a lot of ways, but he never reminds me of him more than when he’s with Sarah.

Start the year with an empty jar and fill it with notes about good things that happen. On New Years Eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened that year.

Doing it
i want to do this

this is really cool

#My jar would probably be filled with things that happened to my otp #I regret nothing

Alternatively you could fill it with  notes about the negative things that have happened during the year and then on New Years Eve burn them as a symbol of starting a new.

I’d fill it with things I accomplished to fight back the ‘you never do anything’ messages of my jerkbrain.

What is “Buffy the vampire slayer” ? part 3

One of the first tv shows  focused on strong female characters , making the heroine , Buffy Summers , a feminist icon. After 10 years , we still remember each one of these characters :  independant , fierce  , warrior , bad ass. It’s not only about physical strengh or how well they use their weapons , it’s about their journey ( emotionnal pain…) and how they get through the worst , stronger than ever. They came to win , to fight ,to rise.

She as a character in television will have a legacy, I think she as a woman, female character in a television series has pushed open some doors and also allowed us to see other ones that we have been shying away from. She kind of redefined, in my opinion, what it is to be strong. She stepped into a position of power and discovered power inside of herself as opposed to what we’ve been seeing for the past decade, which is women who are trained for power. So, I think she brought something to the culture that I think will resonate for a very long time as a kind of interesting, ‘What happens to a woman when given a situation that she is not necessarily prepared for? How does a woman encounter that?’ We’ve seen a lot of that in sort of the male hero legends, but not many women.
